ICP U.S. Filming Tour

The Islamic Center for PEACE is on the road!

Since May 12, 2009, Imam Mohamed Al-Darsani and other members of the ICP have been traveling to film the documentaries Islam in America: Muslim Contributions to the United States, and Misconceptions in Islam.   The trip has been extremely exciting, successful and filled with wonderful interviews with some of America’s most notable Muslims such as Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected member to the U.S. House of Representatives.

These documentaries will be distributed to promote the true meaning of Islam and its roles in America and contemporary society. Upon completion of the film Islam in America, the ICP intends to market the film to US Mosques, County Libraries, University Libraries, Churches, and Synagogues . Imam Al-Darsani was excited to comment on the project, stating that "If the Muslim Community in America is willing to help promote this film, by buying a copy, two copies, or even ten copies, or if the Mosques are willing to buy them in bulk and give them to local churches or community libraries, we can really help to show America the real face of Islam".

The Center seeks to intellectually engage Muslims and non-Muslims by taking on some of the most controversial issues surrounding Islam. Muslims should also benefit by receiving  immense insight from some of the most notable Muslim scholars in America on matters that directly affect their everyday lives.  With these documentaries, the Islamic Center for PEACE hopes to help bring an understanding of Islam to the United States and the world.

Funding for the trip has been made possible by the generous donations of local Southwest Florida Muslims. The project is estimated to cost around $80,000 USD. If you are interested in contributing to this project please contact Imam Mohamed Al-Darsani at 239-671-1761.

The trip’s progress will be documented on the Center’s website (  The team will work hard to keep you updated on the latest developments concerning the films.
